A moment to check in with yourself
MorningHello helps you stay connected with loved ones and make a little time for your emotional wellbeing.
You can record how calm you feel right now and look back at how your feelings change over time. If you feel anxious, the app offers a short pause with a guided Box Breathing exercise.
This personal reflection tool is not a medical or psychological assessment and does not replace professional advice.
Open the emotional check-in from the MorningHello home screen. The app asks a simple question:
“How calm do you feel right now?”
Choose one of five options:
-
0 – Zen: completely calm.
-
1 – Calm: calm and steady.
-
2 – A little anxious: mild worry or unease.
-
3 – Worried: noticeable anxiety.
-
4 – Panicked: very high anxiety.
MorningHello saves your rating for the day and shows a short, supportive suggestion.
There are no right or wrong answers. What matters is how you feel at that moment.
One current rating is saved for each calendar day. If your feelings change later that day, you can choose another rating. Your new selection replaces the previous entry for that date.
Your history therefore shows your most recently saved rating for each day.
Open History to view your entries from:
-
The last 7 days.
-
The last 30 days.
Your history includes:
-
A chart showing changes in your ratings.
-
A list of daily entries with the date, emoji, and name of the selected feeling.
If you do not record a rating on a particular day, that day remains blank. A missing entry is not automatically treated as either calm or anxious.
Your history helps you notice patterns in how you feel. It does not explain the causes of those changes or provide a diagnosis.
You can delete your entire rating history. The app asks you to confirm before deleting it. Deleted entries cannot be restored.
What is Box Breathing?
Box Breathing is an exercise with four equal phases:
-
Breathe in – 4 seconds.
-
Hold – 4 seconds.
-
Breathe out – 4 seconds.
-
Hold – 4 seconds.
Each full cycle takes 16 seconds and then repeats.
The screen guides you with:
-
The current breathing phase.
-
A countdown.
-
Movement along the sides of a square.
-
A gentle animation accompanying each inhale and exhale.
The exercise gives you a simple rhythm to follow and a moment to pause when you feel tense.
In the exercise settings, you can turn the breathing sound on or off and choose an available melody.
The cycle starts automatically when you open the screen. You decide how long to continue and can close the exercise at any time using the close button at the top.
For ratings 2, 3, and 4, MorningHello offers the Box Breathing exercise. You can choose:
-
Start – open the exercise.
-
Not Now – stay on the emotional check-in screen.
The exercise is optional. The choice is always yours.
Sometimes, a brief pause is a chance to notice how you feel and give yourself a little attention. MorningHello brings care for loved ones together with care for yourself, while keeping your emotional entries private.

Your ratings and history are stored locally on your device. MorningHello does not send them to its servers or share them with your trusted contacts or the person paying for a sponsored subscription.
Your emotional ratings:
-
Are not included in your “I’m OK” check-in.
-
Are not added to your shared profile.
-
Do not trigger alerts.
-
Do not change your check-in deadline.
-
Do not affect your subscription status.
An emotional check-in and an “I’m OK” check-in have different purposes.
When you tap “I’m OK,” MorningHello sends your check-in to the server. Once it is successfully confirmed, a new countdown begins for your chosen interval of 24, 48, or 72 hours.
When you record how calm you feel:
-
No “I’m OK” check-in is sent.
-
Your last successful check-in time stays the same.
-
Your countdown does not restart.
-
No message is sent to your trusted contacts because of that rating.
To complete your regular check-in, tap “I’m OK” separately on the home screen.
