About the app, check-ins, and trusted contacts
What is MorningHello?
MorningHello is an iPhone app that turns a regular “I’m OK” check-in into a warm personal ritual.
Choose a check-in interval of 24, 48, or 72 hours. After a successful check-in, enjoy the postcard of the day and, if you wish, share it with someone you care about.
If your next check-in does not reach the server within your chosen interval while monitoring is active, MorningHello alerts your confirmed trusted contacts by email and WhatsApp.
Who is MorningHello for?
MorningHello can be useful for:
-
people who live alone;
-
older parents and their adult children;
-
couples living temporarily in different cities or countries;
-
relatives and friends separated by distance;
-
people living alone with a pet who want to prepare care information;
-
anyone who wants a simple check-in routine between calls and visits.
Does MorningHello track my location?
No. MorningHello does not use GPS to track your location or movements.
Information you enter yourself, such as your country or your pet’s location, is separate from location tracking.
Is MorningHello an emergency service?
No. MorningHello is not a medical, rescue, or emergency service. It does not assess your health or automatically dispatch an ambulance, police, or other emergency responders.
A missed check-in alert asks your trusted contacts to get in touch with you and make sure everything is okay. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
How does a regular check-in work?
Open MorningHello and tap “I’m OK.” The app sends your check-in to the server.
Once the server successfully receives it, a new countdown begins for your chosen interval. Simply opening the app, viewing a postcard, or recording your emotional state does not restart this countdown.
Which check-in intervals can I choose?
You can choose 24, 48, or 72 hours.
Your next successful check-in must reach the server before that interval ends. You can check in earlier whenever it suits you.
How do I know my check-in was successful?
A check-in is complete only when the MorningHello server has successfully received it and the app shows confirmation.
If the app reports that it could not send your check-in, check your internet connection and try again. An unsuccessful attempt does not restart the countdown.
Do I need an internet connection to check in?
Yes. An internet connection is required to send your check-in to the server.
Opening MorningHello without successfully sending a check-in does not start a new monitoring interval.
What happens if my check-in cannot be sent?
The server continues counting from your last successfully received check-in.
If you see an error, check your internet connection and try again. If no successful check-in arrives before the deadline while monitoring is active, the server will attempt to alert your confirmed trusted contacts.
Does monitoring continue if my phone is switched off?
Yes. Once the server receives your check-in, it monitors the interval independently of your iPhone.
Your phone may later be switched off, run out of battery, or lose its internet connection. While monitoring remains active, the server will still attempt to send alerts if your next check-in does not arrive on time.
What happens after each successful check-in?
Each successful check-in restarts your selected interval of 24, 48, or 72 hours.
The home screen shows the countdown to your next check-in, and the app opens the postcard of the day. Sharing a postcard is optional.
What happens if I miss the deadline?
While monitoring is active, MorningHello attempts to notify your confirmed trusted contacts by email and WhatsApp.
The alert asks them to contact you and check that everything is okay. A missed check-in does not necessarily mean something has happened: it may be caused by forgetfulness, a busy day, a switched-off phone, or no internet connection.
A new monitoring cycle begins when the server receives your next successful check-in.
Will alert emails be sent repeatedly?
No. MorningHello sends one alert email to each confirmed contact for a missed check-in interval.
It does not keep sending the same email while waiting for you to check in. Your next successful check-in starts a new monitoring cycle.
What is a trusted contact?
A trusted contact is someone who agrees to receive an alert from MorningHello if you miss a check-in.
This could be an adult child, partner, relative, friend, neighbour, or another person you trust to follow up.
How many trusted contacts can I add?
ou can add up to two trusted contacts.
At least one confirmed contact is needed for someone to receive missed check-in alerts. A second contact is recommended as an additional person who can follow up.
Does a trusted contact need to give consent?
Yes. After you add a contact, MorningHello sends them an email asking them to confirm that they agree to receive alerts.
Until they confirm, they will not receive missed check-in alerts.
What do the contact statuses mean?
Pending: The invitation has been sent, but the contact has not yet confirmed their consent. They do not receive alerts.
Confirmed: The contact has agreed to receive alerts and can be notified if you miss a check-in.
Declined: The contact has declined the invitation and does not receive alerts.
Consent withdrawn: The contact has withdrawn their previous consent and no longer receives alerts.
How does the app know that a contact has given consent?
The contact’s response is saved on the MorningHello server.
When you open the Contacts section, the app retrieves the latest available statuses and updates the screen. An internet connection is required to receive these updates.
Why has my contact’s status not changed?
Possible reasons include:
-
the contact has not opened the invitation;
-
the email has gone to their spam or junk folder;
-
they have not completed the confirmation process;
-
the app has not yet retrieved the updated status;
-
your iPhone is temporarily offline.
Ask your contact to check their inbox and spam folder. Then reopen the Contacts section with an internet connection.
кт проверить электронную почту и затем снова откройте раздел «Контакты» при работающем интернете.
What can my trusted contact see?
Your contact receives an invitation to confirm their consent and, if you miss a check-in, an alert asking them to get in touch with you.
Being a trusted contact does not give them access to your app, emotional entries, private journal, postcard collection, or activity history. MorningHello does not track your location.
Any postcard you choose to send them is a separate, voluntary message.
Does an emotional check-in replace an “I’m OK” check-in?
No. An emotional check-in records how you feel for your own reflection.
It does not update your last “I’m OK” check-in, restart the monitoring countdown, or send an alert to your contacts. To restart your check-in interval, tap “I’m OK” and make sure the server receives it successfully.
Does my contact receive a message after every check-in?
No. MorningHello does not automatically send your trusted contacts a message after each successful check-in.
While you check in on time, no missed check-in alert is sent. You can still choose to send them a postcard whenever you wish.
What happens if I change a contact’s name or phone number?
If the contact’s email address stays the same, their existing consent status is retained.
The updated name and phone number are sent to the server. Make sure the phone number is correct and includes the international country code, as it is used for WhatsApp alerts.
Why does a new email address require new consent?
Consent is linked to the email address that received the invitation.
If you replace that address, the new address must be confirmed before the contact can receive alerts. MorningHello cannot assume that a different email address belongs to the same person.
Do I have to send a postcard after checking in?
No. Your check-in is complete when the server receives it successfully.
You can enjoy the postcard, save it, share it, or return to the home screen. Sending a postcard does not affect your monitoring interval.
Can my trusted contacts see my emotional entries?
No. Emotional entries are stored locally on your device and are not sent to MorningHello’s server or your trusted contacts.
They are intended for personal reflection and do not control missed check-in alerts.
Monitoring Status
What is required for monitoring to be active?
Three conditions must be met:
-
You have a valid free trial or subscription, including access through a sponsored plan.
-
At least one trusted contact has confirmed their consent to receive alerts.
-
The server has successfully received your “I’m OK” check-in.
Monitoring cannot become active until all three conditions are met.
Why isn’t monitoring active yet?
Check that at least one trusted contact has confirmed their consent, your trial or subscription is valid, and your latest check-in was successfully received.
Open the Contacts section to check consent statuses. If necessary, ask your contact to confirm the invitation, then return to MorningHello and complete an “I’m OK” check-in with an internet connection.
What does “Waiting for a check-in” mean?
It means monitoring is active, your last check-in was successfully received, and the server is counting down your selected interval of 24, 48, or 72 hours.
No missed check-in alert has been triggered for this interval.
What happens when my free trial or subscription expires?
If your access expires and is not renewed, monitoring stops and missed check-in alerts are no longer sent.
To resume monitoring, start or renew a subscription, or activate valid sponsored access. Then complete a new “I’m OK” check-in and make sure the server receives it successfully.
Turning off automatic renewal does not stop monitoring immediately. It continues until your current access expires, provided the other monitoring conditions remain met.
Postcards
Why does MorningHello include postcards?
Postcards turn a regular check-in into a warm personal ritual.
After a successful check-in, MorningHello shows you the postcard of the day with a kind message. You can enjoy it yourself or share it with someone you care about.
Are postcards sent automatically?
No. You choose whether to share a postcard, who receives it, and which app to use.
MorningHello does not send postcards without your confirmation.
Can I add my own message?
Yes. Before sharing, you can add a personal message of up to 50 characters.
Your message becomes part of the postcard image. It is processed on your iPhone and is not sent to the MorningHello server.
Which apps can I use to share a postcard?
You can share postcards through compatible apps on your iPhone, such as Messages, including iMessage, or WhatsApp.
The available sharing options depend on the apps installed on your device.
Data and Privacy
Do I need to create an account?
You do not need to create a traditional username and password to complete regular check-ins.
MorningHello uses an identifier to connect the app with its server records. Sponsored subscriptions also use an account and activation process to link the person paying with the person receiving access.
What data is used for monitoring?
MorningHello uses your profile information, selected check-in interval, the time of your last successful check-in, trusted contact details and consent statuses, and trial or subscription status.
The app also sends its version and build number to help support its operation.
Emotional entries and personal postcard messages are not sent to the MorningHello server and do not affect monitoring.
For details about data collection, storage, and deletion, please read the MorningHello Privacy Policy.
Where is my contact’s consent status stored?
The current consent status is stored on the MorningHello server.
Your iPhone keeps a local copy to display in the app. When the Contacts section successfully retrieves updated information from the server, that local copy is refreshed.
Are my personal postcard messages sent to the server?
No. The text you add to a postcard is not sent to the MorningHello server.
If you share the postcard, your message is included in the image sent through the app you choose.
